2014-2015 School YEar
August 25-29th
Turn in a photo you took this summer! You had to be the one to actually push the shutter button. You do not have to be in it, and for this beginning assignment, you may turn in a photo taken with a phone or tablet. Be prepared to discuss your image and why you chose to turn that one in from all of your fabulous images this summer. A collection of your photos will decorate this site and be printed for display! Show me your best!!!! *Please do not include any images of people in swimsuits or shirtless.
I started experimenting with portraits this summer and my youngest sister was a FABULOUS model! Woo!! It was SUPER hot and muggy that night because it rained earlier that day. After looking though my images, I learned a lot of things to apply to my future photo outings, such as which lens I prefer, time for shooting, and scouting locations.

This week we are going to experiment with pixlr.com to gain better understanding of each of the tools within the photo editing program. We are also going to discuss and review the Elements and Principles of Design and how to apply them to photography.
Weekly Challenge: Due Friday by 4:15 - Black and White. You may convert your photograph to black and white via pixlr or you may change the settings within your camera to take black and white photos. I am looking for good contrast (good dark blacks, middle grays and bright whites). Let your imagination run wild with this one, no subject restrictions. :) Your best photo needs to be saved into your sdrive by the end of school on Friday.
Major Assignment:
Self Portrait - You do not have to show your whole face. Check out the link for additional ideas and tips. You may use pixlr.com to adjust your photo. Due date: Friday, September 13th by the end of school saved to your sdrive along with the original image. Check out the link for ideas. I do not want any reflection pictures, such as your reflection in a bathroom mirror with duck face, and I also do not want to see your camera. Use a self timer and do not wait until the last minute. This will be challenging! You do not have to have your whole face or body showing but please remember to keep everything school appropriate.

Choose any style, but be sure to not include your full name or direct contact information such as email or phone numbers. Please email me your address to your site. [email protected] I understand your website will not be perfect and I do not expect that yet. It is a work in progress and will evolve throughout the school year.
